About me
From family office management to lounging on a La-Z-Boy, I’m attempting to create a humorous map of “money and meaning” to keep in touch with those I’ve known, and to hopefully to make some new friends.
Professionally, I was not a good employee. I started out as an accountant but failed the CPA exam. After getting fired I joined a computer consulting company. After getting fired from there I went to work for a broker/dealer. Dangling on the precipice of Firing Part 3, I left to start my own investment advisory firm and a hedge fund. Sold both during the dot com bubble, bought them back during The Global Financial Crisis, then sold again 14 years later. Along the way a handful of wonderful families joined my circus and rode together with me for decades. 43 years after it all started, I’ve hung up my abacus, but those families will always be family to me.
Personally, I married the girl next door 38 years ago, we have a Rottenweiler (Koda), a Calico (Stimpy), a Bengal (Chester, who’s featured on the Home Page) and more chickens than I care to admit.
As for cooking… BBQ is my thing; the science of cooking is my angle. I’m not a foodie who posts pics of tall sandwiches from trendy restaurants. But I will post things that end up on my butcher block for dinner.
